Cricket Vlass is the Superintendent of the Park and Tree Division of the Department of Public Works in Wellesley. She has kindly agreed to present an overview of the her division’s many responsibilities. Not only does it address the care and upkeep of all the Town's parkland, conservation land, and other open spaces; but it also maintains the athletic fields and the town-owned trees. Just routine maintenance of Wellesley's 7,000 shade trees turns out to be a challenging endeavor all by itself, not to mention the many other "behind-the-scenes” projects of her Division. She will tell us about them too. You’ll be fascinated by Cricket's inside look and gain a new appreciation of the thought, planning, dedication, and plain old hard work that go into creating the town’s lovely and functional public outdoor environments. We hope you will join us for this informative but informal Zoom meeting.
