Welcome back to Maureen’s Cocktail Hour!  We have a special guest to start our fall Zoom gatherings. John Barrett, Board President of the Vokes Players, has kindly agreed to present an historic talk about the Beatrice Herford’s Vokes Theatre, located in Wayland, MA. For those of you who may not be aware of this delightful theatre, you will learn about it’s beginnings in 1904, thanks to Beatrice Herford who built the theatre on the property of she owned with her husband, Sidney Hayward, to entertain her friends. After 30 plus years, Beatrice donated the theatre to the Vokes Players, a local non-profit theatrical group.
The Vokes Players, currently, perform at least four plays each year. If you have never attended, you have missed a treat. There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the presentation.
We hope you will join us for this opportunity to learn more about the history of the Vokes Theatre.
