David Gullette is Professor Emeritus of English at Simmons University. He has written two books about the confluence of poetry and revolution in Nicaragua: Nicaraguan Peasant Poetry from Solentiname and ¡GASPAR!: A Spanish Poet/Priest in the Nicaraguan Revolution. His poems are collected in Questionable Shapes (Cervena Barva). He is Literary Director of The Poets' Theatre, where he has written various scripts, including The Boston Abolitionists and Four Generations of the Adams Family. At a Wellesley Neighbors event in the recent past, some of you may recall David’s performance of Meet Scott Harney and his memorable, sonorous voice. At this event, he will read his poetry for about 40 minutes and then open the floor for discussion.
