Moving to Heal Workshop on Tuesday at 3 PM

Health Support and Well Being Committee
M2H Moving to Heal Workshop
Tuesday, February 14, at 3 PM on Zoom
Presented by Suzanne L Cohen, Ed.D.

Besides being fun, M2H aims to make us feel better and stronger in body and spirit. Participants are invited to move in their own way and their own time.  Moving to Heal is ideal for seniors at all levels of fitness, including those with physical limitations.  The program can be done seated or standing. Research on aging is continually finding new ways in which movement is important to health. The Nia Technique also stresses the sheer joy of movement.

Suzanne will give a power point presentation, followed by a movement segment to notice how your body feels in the moment. Music will then be offered as she shows movements you can try. She welcomes questions throughout the workshop and discussion at the end. “When the pandemic began I started to teach on Zoom,” she notes. “Jerry Gans and I both came to the conclusion that my approach to health and wellbeing as we age would be a good fit for Wellesley Neighbors.” For more information or to try a M2H Class, please contact Suzanne (suzannecohen88@gmail.com).

Dr. Suzanne Cohen is a psychologist and psychotherapist and a longtime colleague of Jerry Gans. She is recently retired but when still seeing clients, she trained in The Nia Technique and began teaching classes. Nia is a movement and lifestyle practice based on dance, yoga and Tai Chi. Music of many kinds provides inspiration, and the brain is stimulated by sound, melody, harmony, and and most importantly, rhythm. This feature distinguishes it from yoga and other methods, and most importantly, rhythm.  This feature distinguishes it from yoga and other methods.
