Forbes House Museum Special Exhibition
"Opium:  The Business of Addiction"
Thursday, June 9th at 11 AM

Forbes House, built in Milton in 1833, was the home of sea captains who found great success in foreign trading in the mid to late nineteenth century.  Along with the Cabots, Peabodys, Delanos, Endicotts, Coolidges and other Boston Brahmin families, eleven members of the extended Forbes family were involved in the “China Trade,” spanning the years 1784 to 1887 and including the First and Second Opium Wars.  We will see the exhibition as we walk through the house, with the docent explaining the family's involvement it both the opium trade and the ensuing wars.
After the visit, time and weather permitting, we can stroll through the grounds and then have lunch in a local pub.

Entrance Fee: $10, payable at museum.
Let us know if you need a ride and
if you want to stay for lunch.
