We are very pleased to have Hank Solomon, a member of Wellesley Neighbors and a member of the Board of Directors lead the discussion for this talk.
TED talks is an acronym for Technology, Entertainment, Design. TED talks present easy-to-understand information about a wide variety of topics, some new to you. TED spreads ideas and widens your horizons.
Our brains create categories to make sense of the world, recognize patterns and make quick decisions. But this ability to categorize also exacts a heavy toll in the form of unconscious bias. In this powerful talk, psychologist Jennifer L. Eberhardt explores how our biases unfairly target Black people at all levels of society, in schools, social media , policing and criminal justice. She discusses how creating points of friction can help us actively interrupt and address this troubling problem.
