Joyce’s career has crossed the business, academic and nonprofit environments. After receiving a A.B. from Douglass College, and while completing her master’s degree in Education, she was a member of the Dean of Students staff at Rutgers University, managing several all male residence halls. She moved to Massachusetts when she became Director of Residence Life at Wellesley College.
In 1981 she began a 17-year career with Digital Equipment Corporation (later Compaq Computer Corporation), and was progressively promoted with increased scope and complexity of management roles in support of the Field Service Division and the North Americas Sales Division. After leaving Compaq she was Managing Director, Harvard Business School Executive Education, Worldwide Director of Customer Support, Teradyne, Inc, and later, Director of Continuing Education at Lesley University for nine years. A Service Opportunities After Reaching 55 (SOAR) volunteer, she led teams that provided management consulting to area nonprofits including the Foundation for MetroWest.
Joyce has resided in Wellesley for 46 years. She has two children, and three grandchildren. Her hobby is genealogy, and she travels often to Ireland to research her ancestors and to spend time with cousins.
