During this year's celebration of our country's 250th anniversary, why not visit right next door in Weston a relic from the loyalist side of the Revolutionary War?
The Golden Ball Tavern, built in 1768, restored in our time, and converted into a museum, was added to the National Register of Historic Places 1972. It is one of Weston's finest examples of Late Georgian architecture. It also played a pivotal role in local activities during the American Revolution, due to its Loyalist tavern keeper, Isaac Jones. We have arranged for a local docent to guide us thru the tavern, describe its history and furnishings, and share stories from colonial times.
Join the group for the optional lunch after the tour at the renowned Weston institution — Dumpling Daughter, 37 Center St, Weston (dumplingdaughter.com/). Just down the street from the Golden Ball Tavern, this pleasant, informal restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. While reservations are not required, please indicate on this registration page if you plan to attend.
