Join Wellesley Neighbors for a springtime walk through Northeastern University's accredited urban arboretum. We are fortunate indeed to have Stephen Schneider, its Director, lead us thru parts of this 11-acre green space devoted to the planting and stewardship of over 600 genera of plants, including 2,200 trees, all grown to inspire research, education, and exploration.
Designed in collaboration with Jim and Judy Barr, the tour route will be on level ground with numerous benches along the way. Steve says he is comfortable guiding tours for seniors—he has led tours for "K to Grey" individuals.
The Arboretum is a living expression of Northeastern’s evolution from a barren landscape to an urban forest. Over more than a century, it has played an integral role in transforming the Boston campus from an urban commuter college into the lush and verdant campus of today.
Please indicate on the arboretum registration page if you plan to stay for lunch or not. At the end of the tour, participants who registered for the optional lunch will go together to a restaurant (probably a cafeteria) on the Northeastern University campus. Precise information will be emailed to registrants before the event.
