Cocktail Hour: The Expansion of Hanscom Field Airport on Friday at 5 PM

Cocktails and Conversation
with Lara Sullivan

 "The Environmental Impact of
Expanding Hascom Field Airport"
Friday, August 15 at 5 PM
on Zoom

What would you do if Massport was planning to expand its civilian airport by building a 522,000 square foot hangar facility to accommodate private luxury jets used mostly for leisure and convenience? How concerned would you feel if the developers portrayed the expansion as a model of "sustainable aviation" and you learned that 98% of airport emissions come from the current fuel aircraft use. And, in particular, how would you respond when you realized that private jets are the most carbon-intensive form of travel per passenger?

To find out what the environmental community has done and is doing, we invited Lara Sullivan to be with us today. She will use slides as she informs us about this controversial development as well as her advocacy and that of other citizens in 100+ organizations in Massachusetts who have formed a coalition: Stop Private Jet Expansion at Hanscom or Anywhere.
