"Staying Safe: Recognizing and Responding to Financial Scams"
A Talk by Representatives from Bank of America and the Wellesley Police Department
Thursday, September 26, 2024
3:00 pm: Zoom or in person.*
AT THE WELLESLEY FREE LIBRARY
Co-sponsored with Wellesley Free Library
Join us for an informative program designed to help you protect yourself from financial scams and identity theft. A representative from Bank of America, Rick LaVoye, will lead one session, breaking down how financial institutions work to prevent scams and respond when fraud occurs. He will also cover essential steps consumers can take to safeguard their personal information and explain what actions to take if you become a victim. Additionally, he will provide insights into emerging scams that are currently targeting consumers.
In addition to the bank representative, a Wellesley Police Department officer will offer guidance on what to do if you suspect you've been a victim of a financial scam, including how to report it and recover. A social worker will discuss the emotional toll that being a scam victim can have, offering advice on coping with the stress and anxiety such experiences can cause. At the end of the program, there will be time for participants to ask questions and gain further clarity on any concerns they may have. This is a crucial program for anyone looking to stay informed and take proactive steps to protect their financial well-being.
