Vickie Mancini Anderson has kindly agreed to talk about the history of Anderson's Jewelers, located at 21 Grove Street in Wellesley Square. Her grandfather, John W. Anderson, established it in 1947, shortly after  WW II when the price of an average house was $6,000, a loaf of bread 13 cents, gas 15 cents per gallon, and the Big Band sound was in full swing. John was inspired to live the American Dream of owning his own business. He had a simple yet powerful philosophy about running one, and it held him in good stead throughout the years: "Treat all customers the same—whether they are replacing a watch strap or purchasing a diamond.  Every customer is special to us—we consider them part of our family. Today, Vickie and her brother Neil share ownership and operate the shop that their grandfather started more than 75 years ago.
