About this event
Cocktails and Conversation
with
Taylor Kolloch, Executive Director
Wellesley Historical Society
Friday, May 26th at 5:00 PM
on ZOOM
What is an archivist? Librarians get to read books all day, right? What do libraries have in common with ice cream? Why is the study of history so important? Taylor will provide answers to these questions, and we will learn more about the day-to-day experience of practicing history outside of the traditional academic spaces of classrooms and textbooks.
Taylor has been with the Wellesley Historical Society since 2011 and has an extensive background in art, history, and library science. She came to the Society as a graduate-student intern working to make the Society’s collections available for research and then moved into a contract archivist position to continue that work. Since 2018, she has been responsible for the Society's collections as its Archivist and Collection Manager. She was named Executive Director in the fall of 2021. In this role, Taylor not only manages the daily operations of the Society and works with the Board to implement its strategic vision but also continues to oversee the Society’s collections along with its exhibit and education programs. In addition, she still supports remote and in-person researchers as an archivist. A PowerPoint presentation will accompany this talk.
Videoconference information will be provided in an email once payment is received.
