The Price, by Arthur Miller on Saturday at 2:00 PM
About this event
The Price: a play by Arthur Miller
Presented by Vokes Players
on Saturday, November 20 at 2:00 PM
Enjoy a Saturday matinee at the charming and intimate Vokes, Wayland’s historic community theater. The respected Vokes Players inaugurate their new season, a reopening of sorts, with The Price, a powerful play by Arthur Miller. In it, two brothers, one a policeman, the other a surgeon, meet for the first time in years in their deceased father’s loft apartment to sell his stored furniture. This occasion impels each of them to take stock of his life so far, to tell his own self-serving truth about it, to evaluate it to retain his dignity, and to give us a glimpse of what his future might be like. The playwright weaves into their considerations recurrent themes from his previous works: family, resentment, accountability, loneliness, and courage. Miller dramatizes not only The Price to be paid for used furniture but also for the choices each brother made.
Tickets are $20 per person. Send checks payable to Vokes Players and mailed or delivered to Renate Olsen, 7 College Road, Wellesley, MA 02482
